Sera Mey Monastery Grand
Entrance Arch: Sponsor & Chief Guest: Mr. Lobsang Puntsok
Pontsang
The three great Monastic Universities of
Tibet have been successfully reestablished in Karnataka, South
India. Gaden Monastery and Drepung Monastery are both located
in Mundgod, while Sera Mey and Sera Jey are situated in Bylakuppe.
Sera Mahayana Monastic University stands as one of the foremost
seats of learning within the Geluk school of Tibetan Buddhism
— a venerable institution in which the profound teachings
of the Kadampa tradition and the great Nalanda legacy are
preserved in their entirety.
The inauguration of the Sera Mey Monastery Grand Entrance
Arch took place on 1st March 2016, in a ceremony presided
over by H.E. Khen Rinpoche. Mr. Lobsang Phuntsok Pontsang
served as both the Chief Guest and the principal sponsor of
the Grand Entrance Arch — a testament to his enduring dedication
as a longstanding supporter, advisor, and benefactor of Sera
Mey Monastery.
